Since the dawn of civilisation, humanity’s relentless pursuit of mobility and connectivity inspired the invention of the wheel. From animal-drawn carts to the steam engine, the internal combustion engine (ICE), and today’s electric vehicles (EVs) and artificial intelligence-driven autonomous transport—this technological evolution represents an enduring scientific odyssey to conquer distance and invigorate human life. The rotation of the wheel signifies far more than the movement of machinery; it has driven the very progress of human civilisation across the globe.
To my mind, automotive engineering extends far beyond nuts, bolts, internal combustion components, or workshop mechanics. Automotive science is an elegant synthesis of physics, thermodynamics, electronics, industrial aesthetics, and safety engineering—a tangible manifestation of engineering wisdom cultivated over generations. A modern vehicle does not merely transport individuals from one location to another; it sustains the momentum of economies, preserves supply chains, and renders human life safer and more connected. Thus, automotive education is not merely a lesson in mechanics; it is a profound discipline that weaves technology, human safety, environmental stewardship, and sustainable mobility into a singular pursuit.
I am neither a professional automotive engineer, an automobile designer, nor a technical specialist; I possess no formal expertise in complex engine mechanics or workshop practice. Yet, as a passionate patron of technology and engineering, I have long held a firm conviction: our nation’s youth lack neither talent nor practical ingenuity. What remains absent is a structured, scientific framework that connects this raw potential with international automotive theory, electric vehicle technology, automation, vehicular electronics, and sustainable design principles.
It is precisely from this realisation that Automotive Gurukul (automotive.gurukul.edu.bd) was conceived. My vision is for our young minds to master the fundamental theories of automotive engineering, classical mechanics, and world-class modern technologies. Our primary objective is to foster an open, practice-led institutional environment where students can grasp both the theoretical science and practical mechanisms underlying conventional internal combustion engines, electric vehicles (EVs), hybrid technologies, automotive software, and sustainable transportation systems.
In today’s global economy, the automotive and transportation sector stands as one of the largest and most rapidly transforming industries. The worldwide shift towards green technologies and electric mobility has generated an unprecedented demand for skilled automotive engineers and technical specialists. If our youth can master modern automotive technologies and engineering methodologies, they will not only fortify our domestic industrial and transportation infrastructure but also unlock rewarding international career pathways across the global automotive landscape.
I am well aware that a single institution cannot revolutionise an entire national automotive landscape or industrial sector overnight. Yet, every monumental journey originates from a modest undertaking. Automotive Gurukul is a humble endeavour along that enduring path—a space where automotive science is cultivated as a powerful medium for understanding technology, nurturing engineering wisdom, and building a modern, safe, and dynamic future.
As before, however, I must candidly acknowledge a fundamental truth: I may have initiated this venture, but elevating it to its requisite academic, technical, and industry-aligned heights is beyond my sole capacity. My personal pursuits and interests span a remarkably broad spectrum—a trait that represents a significant personal shortcoming. Because my attention naturally disperses across diverse domains, maintaining sustained, singular concentration on one subject presents an enduring limitation. Consequently, a technical initiative of this scale cannot flourish upon my shoulders alone.
Therefore, I extend a respectful invitation to distinguished automotive engineers, mechanical engineering experts, industrial leaders, researchers, and technical specialists, both within Bangladesh and across the globe: join this initiative, offer your guidance in curriculum development and research, and embrace Automotive Gurukul as your own institution. May this vision attain its full realisation and reach its intended destination under your seasoned stewardship, expert advice, and engineering wisdom.
